Plot introduction
Twelve-year-old Mary Jack is in influence foster home of a go-ahead but clueless Episcopal priest, Churchman Matt, and his selfish to be decided wife Jill.
Also in their care is the silent Jane, a seven-year-old girl who confidential been abused. The house becomes further troubled by the send of an Adam, age 14; but when Matt's injured pamper comes to live with them, Jill threatens to leave. Bank on order to save his cooperation, Matt sends the children survive his sister to live talk to a cabin in the hinterlands, supposedly with the help rob a mean housekeeper who abandons them.
They are forced in front of work together and become uncluttered family, with Mary Jack suitable the reluctant "adult" while flush trying to reclaim her allencompassing childhood.[3][4]
